With the advent of online dating, people are increasingly finding new ways to connect with others. Unfortunately, online dating sites also allow sexual predators and other offenders to find their prey with greater anonymity.
I’m proud of my company’s hottest new service, Date Check. Date Check is a mobile application, available for free on the iPhone and Android platforms, that aims to help people stay informed about the people they are meeting.
Once the app has been downloaded, all the user needs to do is enter either a name or phone number. This Intelius software will then search through public databases for information on the target. Date Check can access criminal records, social networking sites, financial security and other important files.
"When you meet someone for the first time, you don’t really know anything about them. The Date Check mobile application removes some of the guesswork and gives you the security to decide on the spot if continuing the conversation is worth your time," said John Arnold, our executive vice president of business development at Intelius.
As Robert Siciliano, the personal security and identity theft expert at Intelius, recently noted, it’s often hard for individuals to be certain they can trust people they meet online. Date Check should help alleviate some daters’ concerns.

This seems to be a good idea, but it’s kinda creepy too…I mean, the person you’re going out with can Date Check you, too! Think about it! Well, I got nothing to hide I guess but still I dunno. I hope they have accurate info!
I recently downloaded this app for my iPhone. It’s awesome because it’s free! I don’t really know how much of the info is accurate – don’t really have much to test against – but it’s definitely entertaining.
Wow. This is awesome. I’ve been using Match.com to meet people and it’s been really hit or miss. I could use something like this to figure out what’s really going on with these guys!
I used this service myself more out of curiousity…and I managed to avoid a date with a felon! No wonder why she accepted my date offer hahaha. She turned out to be ten years older than she claimed, but that’s another story. Last time I mess around with a free dating site. Date Check isn’t a bad idea.

Jessica – it’s totally worth getting. It’s a free app (at least on the iPhone) and the information is pretty accurate.
The fact that we even need an application like this is enough to keep me single for another ten years. 60 year old virgin, here I come!
This is creepy. Seriously creepy. But it’s not anymore creepy than putting your information out on a bunch of public websites. Where do you think they get this information from anyway? It’s all out there on the Net! Which is why I have no facebook, twitter, myspace, linkedin… scary stuff.
I’m glad this kind of stuff wasn’t around when I was dating. I feel like it makes things too complicated.
i tried this. it was pretty good. intelius makes some pretty good stuff actually. i used their reverse phone look-up. it was pretty funny because the person actually ended up being a friend whose # i lost a long time ago. but it gives you some basic info for free. nice stuff.
Hell, even if you do run a Date Check on someone, they will still be a mystery! The best thing you can do is just follow your instincts…and get your friends’ opinion! If that person starts acting weird, then run!
